Experimental Dissertation from Internal Medicine/Aviation Medicine
Topic: Influences of Acute Simulated Altitude Exposure on Blood Gases, Lung Function and Bronchial Hyperreactivity
Subjects are brought to a simulated altitude of 12000ft (3800m) in a hypobaric chamber. Lung function tests are performed here under hypobaric hypoxia. A highly significant, clinically significant reduction in bronchial hyperreactivity is shown, which cannot be achieved acutely with medication.
