Abdominoplasty

Tight body contour after weight loss or pregnancy.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Due to pregnancy or significant weight loss, the stretched skin in the abdominal area often does not fully retract. Regular exercise or cosmetics cannot change this.

Even very slim patients suffer from excess skin that is visible through tight-fitting clothing. In overweight patients, abdominoplasty is combined with liposuction.

What is the procedure for abdominoplasty?

The required incision is hidden by a bikini or swimsuit. The skin is carefully released with the underlying tissue and tightened downward. It may be necessary to slightly reposition the navel. Visible and lasting results can be assessed after about 6-8 weeks when the swelling has subsided. The abdominal skin is smoothed and tight, and the waist circumference may be reduced.

What types of tummy tuck are there?

There are two forms of abdominoplasty:

Mini Abdominoplasty

In mini abdominoplasty, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed from the lower abdomen. This method is suitable for removing loose skin on the lower abdomen and for cesarean scar correction.

Abdominoplasty

In abdominoplasty, the classic tummy tuck, skin and fatty tissue are removed from the lower and middle abdomen. If necessary, the rectus abdominis muscles are simultaneously gathered into an "inner corset". During the procedure, the navel is released from the abdominal wall and reinserted after the procedure.

The duration of the procedure depends on the surgical method and is approximately 2-4 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions about Abdominoplasty

Here you will find answers to the most important questions about abdominoplasty.

Please come to the practice 14 days before your procedure for an ECG and laboratory examination. Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin about 4 weeks before the surgery and reduce alcohol and nicotine. Remember to get the prescribed medications in time.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia so that you are relaxed and pain-free throughout the entire procedure. This allows the surgeon to achieve the best results while you are in a comfortable state.
The duration of the procedure depends on the chosen surgical technique. For abdominoplasty, which is often combined with liposuction, you can expect an approximate pure surgery time of about three hours.
Subsequently, you will spend at least 24 hours in our clinic under our care, where you will be excellently cared for by our expert team.
After abdominoplasty, wearing a compression garment for 6 weeks is required. During this time, you should rest physically. The inserted suture material is removed 14 days after the procedure. Pain medication can be taken if needed.
The first results of abdominoplasty are visible immediately after the procedure. Once the swelling and any bruising have subsided, the final result is usually visible after about 3-6 months.
After abdominoplasty, patients are usually socially presentable after 2-3 weeks, fully resilient again after 6 weeks.
