Before an elective surgical procedure, it is recommended to have a blood laboratory test and an ECG performed about 2 weeks in advance. You can schedule this with your family doctor or with us at the Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery Clinic. It is also advisable to have a current ultrasound finding of your breast prepared in advance. Please note that you should refrain from blood-thinning medications such as aspirin about 4 weeks before the planned surgery date. Alcohol and nicotine consumption should also be reduced during this time to support your health. Don't forget to obtain the prescribed medications in advance.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia to ensure that you are completely relaxed and pain-free during the entire procedure. This allows the surgeon to achieve the best results while you are in a comfortable state.
The duration of the procedure varies depending on the surgical technique used. For an implant exchange, you can expect an approximate pure operating time of about one to two hours. If an implant exchange is combined with a breast lift, the operating time is extended.

The first results of an implant exchange are visible about two weeks postoperatively. Once the swelling and any bruising have subsided, the final result usually shows after about 6-8 weeks.
After a breast augmentation, you should consistently take it easy in the first 14 days. After that, patients are usually socially acceptable again, the prescribed bra should be worn for a total of 6 weeks.
